Jonathan,
I consider it a privilege to have had the opportunity to give some prize money. I want to encourage young people (and old people, too, for that matter) to learn how to provide for some of their basic needs themselves. And certainly food is one of the primary basic needs we have.
There is a hymn that summarizes how we are to live. It is called "Trust and Obey." We are to trust God to provide for us. And we are to obey Him in how we live our lives. I think most American Christians are trusting a pagan economic system, and are not obeying God in a number of ways relating to food and economics. However, I think God is starting to open the eyes of a remnant. With our eyes open, we are doubly responsible for walking in His ways. Of course I don't expect I am saying anything you don't already know, and saying nothing your parents have not already taught you. So just consider this to be an echo of their words.
If I can help a couple of young agrarians as they press on in trusting God and obeying him, then I consider myself richer thereby. God bless you.
