I Need Help!

Last spring a friend brought over some plants she was given and offered them to me for our garden.  Sure!

Well, some of the plants grew jalapenos, and now I don't know what to do with them!  I have a big steel bowl brimming full of jalapenos.

Please let me know if you have any good ideas on how to use them up.   My family is not big on spicey food, so I need to be careful on how I serve them.

Thanks!

Hi Lynn,

I'd put them in the freezer whole as it. Then, all Winter you can pull a few out and put them in your stews to keep the blood flowing well.

I also put them in the freezer whole and pull them out as I need them for salsa, etc. Works great!

I either slice them into rings or leave them whole and can them in vinegar and water. Then I use them in salsa, cheese (jalapeño cheddar), put them on salads, put them on a cracker that has cream cheese on it. YUM!!!

In the same fashion one makes pepperoncini with banana peppers you can do the same with jalepenos. Or dice them quite small(with gloves if they're very hot!)putting about 1/4 to 1/2 cup in freezer bags for use in chili, etc. They don't generally add very much heat in a large batch of chili. Or slice lengthwise and fill with a combo of cream cheese, garlic, shredded cheddar or the like, a bit of salt, a bit of chili powder and sprinkling of shredded cheese on top; bake them off...voila..tasty poppers! Have fun with that bounty!

I looked on allrecipes.com and they have several jelly recipes that look like they would use several of your peppers. You will have to let us know what you decide to do with them all. Twyla
