Turkey Butchering

We were supposed to have had a 60% chance of rain overnight. Nothing happened. And, the day dawned cloudless but with mist rising from the low areas of our farm. It was a good day for turkey butchering.

It took a while for the mist to clear, but we all had chores to do, anyway.

Cowboy David was just returning from feeding the pigs.

Twenty of Jonathan's turkeys went from this:

To this:

We spent all morning doing turkeys, then the guys rushed to do something else all afternoon.  I'll have to report that activity tomorrow.

And, we had a very nice sunset as well.

Did everyone come and get their turkeys? We have found that we have to butcher on a Saturday or there are too many no shows. :)

Great minds think alike*wink* We're butchering( considerably less than you) our 7 turkeys this weekend and it's forecasted to only be in the low 50's F for the high but.. we have to get them done and it's only going to get colder, at least there won't be any flies to bother us*wink*
Your birds look great, hope everyone was happy, they should be :o)
Blessings,
Kelle

I'm enjoying seeing your harvest time photos. We, too, have an overabundance of coyotes in our area. We rarely see them during daylight, but the don't hesitate to come into our yard during the night. The guys who used to hunt/trap coyote just don't anymore and coyote population is getting out of control. If anyone happens to ask if they may hunt our familie's land, I now ask if they have a furbearer's license; then request that they use it on any coyotes they encounter during their hunt.

Looking forward to see what will happen next on your farm! God bless you all.
